The Khimsar Fort is the major appeal and has its exceptional significance. The fort was constructed by Prince Rao Karamasji in 1523. He is the eighth son of the king Rao Jodha, who was the founder of the royal dynasty of Khimsar. Prince Rao Karamasji wanted to rescue his people from invaders and built the strong defense in the form of the fort.

Khimsar is situated on the highway from Jodhpur to Bikaner as a small township which was ruled as the small kingdom. The great emperor Aurangzeb visited to the ancestral fort frequently. The construction was started in 1523, but the royal family moved into the fort during the 18th century. It was the time after a new Zenna, the wings for women were constructed. Sir Thakur Omkar Singh was the recent occupant of the fort who built a regal wing for himself in the 1940’s. The fort stands for the privilege of the Khimsar village today. Being 450 years old, it is still tendered to stay Khimsar Thakurs for 18th, 19th, and 20th century generations.
