Jayant Sinha the Indian minister for Civil Aviation and Paul Papalia, the tourism minister of Western Australia met together to talk in detail about commitments from Western Australian government to connect India and Perth with non-stop direct flights. The ministers have given word that the discussion is going in a positive mode.

Both the ministers have agreed that their countries will benefit from the direct flight service. Along with the two ministers, MD and Chairman of Air India, Pardeep Kharola was also a part of this meeting. Air India contributes by agreeing to explore the route’s business case. Western Australia considers India as a fast-growing market. There is a 38% increase in tourism between 2015 and 2017. According to Sinha, Australia and India has a shared interest in trade, sporting, education and investment. This said-direct connectivity via air route between the two destinations would deepen the relationship between the two. He also said that India has put forward quite an open-air agreement with the continent. This liberal agreement will allow India and Australia to connect both the regions with many flights. He also reminded that Indian air carriers are now legally allowed to fly through many international routes. Thus, frequency between Western Australia and India tour would be increased with the new direct flight project. According Paul Papalia, this meeting has been very productive and aid to progression of efforts taken for establishing non-direct flights between Perth and India. He also mentioned that the Western Australian state government is quite serious about the increasing the number of tourists from India to Western Australia. This is the reason to why they have allocated marketing funds, market representative and others to work on the trade and tourism, to promote Western Australia, for the first time, in India.
