1 . International Kite Festival (Uttarayan)

2. Dang Darbar

Dang Darbar is an important tribal festival which is celebrated a few days before Holi in Gujrat. This festival is celebrated in the honour of their forefathers namely Gadhavi, Pimpri, Amala-Linga, Vasurana and Daher who were also the kings of this tribe. The interesting fact is that on this festival, all the five kings received a pension from the state government. This festival is believed to be more than 150 years old. Although after Indian independence, this festival continued to be celebrated during 1954 the privileges of the kings were cancelled by the government and only the hereditary pension were granted to them. 3. Bhavnath Mahadev Fair

Five-day long affairs held in Junagad district of Gujarat, Bhavanath Mahadev fair is dedicated to lord Shiva and it is believed that lord Shiva himself visited this temple during this day. The commencement of this fair is started by the sages who were riding on elephants and they blow shells and lead the procession. 4. Kavant Fair

6. Rann Utsav

9. Chitra Vichitra Mela

A tribal fair held on the eve of the new moon, Chitra Vichitra Mela is another event that occurs in Gujarat and attracts thousands of tourists every year. They spend their whole night near the river where people wear traditional attire along with a saffron coloured turban. 10. Janmashtami

11. Rath Yatra

One of the most awaited festivals not only in Gujarat but also in India is Rath Yatra which took place at major in four locations including the Jagannath in Ahmedabad. Rath Yatra is a sacred annual celebration which occurs in India and the main highlight of the festival is the procession that is led by the ornate chariot.

This procession begins by cleaning the route of the chariot (pahund vidhi) which is often done by the chief minister of Gujarat. Then the chariot and procession make their way to every corner of the city.

12. Bhadra Purnima Fair

In Ambaji Temple, there is no idol of the deity in the temple, thus a triangular object called Vishwa Yantra is placed in the temple which represents Goddess Ambaji. During the period when faur was organised here, people gathered on the temple premise to worship Ambaji and read Saptshati together. During the evening, people gather at the temple premises and perform garba and bhavai which is a folk dance.

13. Tarnetar Fair

A 3-day long fair held in the village of Tarnetar is another famous festival of Gujarat. Tarentar festival is inspired by the grand Swayambar of Draupadi who is a prominent female character in Mahabharata (a Sanskrit epic). This festival is organised like a massive wedding feast where more than 1 lakh people from almost every part of India attend this fair.

16. Shamlaji Melo

Kartik Purnima also known as Shamlaji Melo is another prominent fair of Gujarat which takes place on the premise of Shamlaji temple and it lasts up to three weeks. During this time, a large number of devotees came to this temple, some by foot and others by travelling through camel or cart, singing their deity song. Then they bathe in the Meshwo river which flows through just beside the temple. The fair is a fun place, and also a place for trading silverware, clothes and ornaments. This temple is dedicated to lord Vishnu.

17. Vautha Mela

Vautha Mela is not just a normal fair, local people even consider this as more pious than Diwali, because of the location where this fair is organised. Vautha mela is held at the place where seven holy rivers converge.
