Raj Ghat is a memorial that is dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. The ghat is located in the banks of River Yamuna. It is a black marble platform that is built at the spot of cremation of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation.

Tourist Attractions in Raj Ghat

Raj Ghat holds the cremation spot of many notable people other than Gandhi. Jawaharlal Nehru’s memorial is located at the northern part of Raj Ghat. It is called as the forest of peace. Adjacent to it, the cremation spot of K R Narayan is located. Other notable people’s memorials found her are Lal Bahadur Shastri, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, GianiZail Singh, Chandra Shekar, I K Gujral and others.

How to Reach Raj Ghat

Delhi is easily accessible from any part of the country. It holds an international airport, which links it with many international destinations. Once inside the city, you can find numerous forms of transportations to reach the ghat. The ghat is located on the Mahatma Gandhi Marg road of Delhi. The nearest metro station is Pragati Maidan station. You can find cabs, buses and autos from any part of the city to this spot. Frequency of transportation of this memorial is high and thus, reaching Raj Ghat is not a trouble.

Best Time to Visit Raj Ghat

If you visit during the summer season,the humidity and heat of the city can cause dehydration. Monsoons are always a hindrance for outdoor sightseeing. Thus, it is better to choose the winter season. Winter starts in October and ends in March. The climate is pleasing and clear for sightseeing. If you visit during the anniversary of any of the leaders whose memorial is found here, it might be crowded and you can even watch people paying their tribute.
