2. Iskon Temple

The famous temple of Lord Krishna is situated in a stone-throw distance from Juhu beach. The magnificent temple complex made of marble is famous worldwide and has many devotees visiting the temple throughout the year. This temple is featured by a huge auditorium, a restaurant and a twin-towered seven-storied guest house.

4. Bandra Fort

Originally designed as a watchtower by Portuguese in 1640, this beautiful masterpiece has a lot of history related to it. You can reach here from Mumbai in approx. 38-45 mins by the local transport and in 10-15 mins by cab. This is a favourite destination to history-buffs, photography lovers and solivagant travellers.

The Portuguese also called this Castella de Aguada meaning fort of the water point. You can enjoy the crystal-clear view of the Arabian sea from this fort without paying a single penny. The fort remains open between 6:30 am to 7 pm.

5. Bandra-Worli Sea link

Commonly known as the Rajiv Gandhi sea link, this is the first cable-stayed bridge which was built in open seas of India. This classic piece of art was designed by an engineer architect named Seshadri Srinivasan. This is an architectural masterpiece, adorning the arc of Mumbai's coastline. It gives clear visibility to the Mumbai and Indian Ocean.

You can enjoy a long drive in the night and experience the breathtaking view of the twinkling, sparkling skyline of the city. The 5600 m sea link links Mumbai suburbs to South Mumbai. The sea-link has drastically reduced the travel time between Bandra and Worli to 10 mins from 20-30 mins. 6. Borivali National Park

This is also known by the name of Sanjay Gandhi National Park. If you love wildlife and greeneries this may be the best place for you as this place is characterised by its richness of flora and fauna. Spread across 104 sq. km, this is one of the largest forest reserves in Asia and remains highly protected. It remains closed on Monday and on the other days it remains open from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm.

You can enjoy the bustling forest and the nature trails by paying a minimal entry fee of Rs. 44 per person. If you want to enjoy jungle safaris to a boat ride you need to pay extra for the same. You can also enjoy a ride in the toy train that runs on a narrow-gauge railway named Van rani or Jungle queen.

The walking trail- Ashok Van trail leads you to a dense cluster of Asoka trees. The return journey is usually via the Gaumukh trail that leads to an open volcanic rock face and ends at the Kanheri caves. The Viewpoint trail will lead you to the highest point in Mumbai, which allows you a bird's eye view of the entire city and its three lakes namely Tulsi Lake, Vihar Lake and Powai Lake.

From the airport, you can reach this destination in 36-40 mins via local transport. However, if you take a car you can reach in 19-20 mins.

A. Kanheri Caves

This is located inside Sanjay Gandhi National park. The group of 109 caves were originally carved from Basalt rock by Buddhist residents around 1st century BCE. Inside the caves, you can witness the paintings and inscriptions dating back to 1st century BCE To 10th century CE.

You will also find here the shrines, Buddhistssculptors and many paintings especially on the ceiling of the caves. This has nearly 51 legible inscriptions and 26 epigraphs which makes Kanheri, a popular destination to the archaeologist and researchers. This is located on the hillside and you can climb via the rock-cut steps. If you are a food lover, then this place has many restaurants that can offer many options in Indian cuisines.

You can also enjoy the nuts, baked chips and chaats from the local food vendors. This is approximately 3.8 km away from the Mumbai Airport. By car, you can reach here in 43-45 mins from the airport.

7. RBI Monetary Museum

This museum is located next to RBI's main building. This remains crowded with students, numismatics and coin collectors. This is a great learning destination for currencies, finance and economy. If you have the hobby of collecting different types of coins, this may be the best place for you, as it has a souvenir shop for purchasing coins and other souvenirs.

You can find here a huge collection of coins from ancient time till that of 6th century BC. This also has a variety of financial instruments like promissory notes, cheques and bills of exchange. However, you are not allowed to carry your camera here.

8. Haji Ali Dargah

The monument constructed in 1431 in the memory of a saint Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari whose tomb is located inside. This has a beautiful Indo-Islamic architecture. The 600 hundred year old dargah is also considered as the historic landmark of Mumbai.

The hall inside is characterised by its marble pillars with astounding mirror-work in kaleidoscopic Arabic pattern. The patterns spell 99 different names of Allah or God. You can reach here in 34-35 mins from the airport by public transport and in 19-20 mins by cab. You can offer your prayers and seek blessings of the saint.

Additionally, you may get lucky and receive the rose water in the mosque which is said to have powers to cure any diseases.
