No one can deny the fact that Kashmir is one of the best honeymoon destinations for couples. Even, we observe the same thing; the beauty of Srinagar has stolen our hearts. Right from several activities to stay in the houseboat, we did many things beyond our thinking level.
We started our journey with the most romantic place that is Pahalgam which mesmerized me without any doubt.
Pahalgam
I have only one sentence to say that, see, wonder, and enjoy the beauty. If you are an adventurous couple, I must tell you you should go hiking and trekking. Do not forget to get a signature experience by visiting the Pahalgam.
Location of Pahalgam
You need to travel 95 km east from Srinagar to explore the Pahalgam. It is situated in the western part of Jammu and Kashmir. As we visit in the summers, we experience the mild weather. If your partner loves the rainy season, you can make the plan between July and September.
Best time to explore Pahalgam
According to my experience, you must explore the Pahalgam in the summer. It means between mid-April and mid-November. So make the plan at your convenience.
There are various tourist attractions that we explore in the Pahalgam. Firstly we visited the Liddar valley. It is one of the most famous tourist attractions that you can explore. Additionally, the sparkling water of River Liddar will mesmerize us. Moreover, there are various picnic spots too which you can explore with your better half.
- We experienced the river Liddar and spent quality of time there.
- November is the best month to explore Pahalgam if you want to explore the entire bloom of saffron plants.
- It was quite a funny yet romantic experience that we had on horseback. We explored the Pahalgam on horseback.
- The lush green pine forests and snow-capped peaks that we experienced.
- You can also do the fishing, but you require the fishing license from the Directorate of Fisheries in Srinagar.
How to reach
There is no airport at Pahalgam, so we reached Pahalgam via road. It required around two and half hours to get to this point. We opted for the bus because my partner preferred to travel by bus rather than a taxi. However, you also have the option to choose a taxi. Additionally, you can also select guided ponies and horses.
Gulmarg
Our next destination was the Gulmarg. No person on the earth does not hear the name of Gulmarg. As per my experience, this place is the great blessing of nature. From my point of view, it is one of the ideal places for adventure sports lovers. We visited numerous locations, which made our trip the best and memorable.
Here is the list of some places which we visited in the Gulmarg.
- Gulmarg Gondola
Foremost, we explored the Gulmarg Gondola, known as the world’s highest operating cable car. Still, I have a clear picture of the views I saw from the cable car. You cannot take your eyes off the views.
- Alpather Lake
After that, we decided to go to Alpather Lake, which is an incredible beauty of Gulmarg. This lake is an excellent example of the beauty of Jammu Kashmir. It is at a distance of13 km from Gulmarg. We clicked a lot of pictures there and spent quality of time. It is one of the best lakes that I ever experienced.
- Saint Mary’s Church
It is one of the most outstanding examples of European art, which I discovered in the beauty of Gulmarg. It is one of the most beautiful locations that I experienced yet. But there is timing to explore Saint Mary’s Church that is 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
So, we visited these places in Gulmarg, which is beyond our imagination. I must say exploration of Gulmarg completed our trip.
Best time to explore
I observed that the peak season of visiting the Gulmarg is between April and June. In between these months, you will get the chance to enjoy beautiful views and surroundings. Visiting Gulmarg means getting a new experience of life with your loved one.
How to reach
The distance from Srinagar to Gulmarg is around 51 km. We covered this distance via the Tangmarg road.
Additionally, we enjoyed this whole journey as we ate a lot and enjoyed ourselves a lot.
Sonamarg
As per my experience, Sonamarg is an ideal destination for lovers situated in the Ganderbal district of Jammu Kashmir. We enjoyed the views of various peaks that include Kolhoi Peak, Amarnath Peak, and so on. It would help if you travelled around 85 km to reach Sonamarg from Srinagar.
Moreover, we visited several places, which made our trip memorable. Here is the list of places that I explored with my partner.
- Vishansar Lake
Never miss any lake in Srinagar because you will surely enjoy the lake view as we did. This lake is considered the important lake of Sonmarg. The surrounding scenery of this lake was full of greenery. Again we clicked plenty of pictures.
- Nilagrad River
If you are a picnic lover, it is a perfect destination for you. It is at a distance of 6km from Sonamarg. Space does not matter for me, but the enjoyment was.
Apart from these places, I explore Zoji La Pass, Thajiwas Glacier, Krishanasar Lake, and Baltal valley.
How to reach:
To reach Sonamarg, you will have to cover a distance of approximately 70 km. We hired a taxi to come to Sonamarg. Additionally, you will enjoy the trip and scenic views. However, there is no such direct flight from Delhi to Sonamarg. So, you need to check as per your destination.
Hence, we chose some places for the honeymoon, which you can also consider to make your honeymoon best. Additionally, all you need to do is proper planning.
In the end, proper planning is required to complete any of the journeys. So you must plan all the things to get the best experience.
