Lakshadweep is most sought after tourist destination for scenic beauty, solitude and water sports. Since this Union Territory in India consisting of a group of tiny island cannot support industry, the Government is promoting and facilitating tourism in Lakshadweep.
To facilitate free travel between the small islands, the Lakshadweep’s Administration has deployed M.V. Amindivi Ship for carrying the tourists to and fro between Old Mangalore port and Agatti in Lakshadweep. Six ships connect Kochi with Lakshadweep. From Kochi, local flights to Agatti Aerodrome of Lakshadweep are also available. The other islands are linked by the Pawan Hans helicopter or boat service. Every season in Lakshadweep is pleasant except the monsoon when sea is very rough.
Each of its 36 islands has lush green landscape and beaches around. It is land of coral reef which is a main tourist attraction. Its solitude and scenic view also attracts the tourists. But a permit to visit the islands is required and foreign nationals are not permitted to visit certain islands. Liquor is permitted only in Bangaram Island which is a hotbed for international tourism.
Its rich aquatic life, variety of grasses and 400 species of flower plants and around one hundred bird species constitutes another tourist attraction. Entire Island of Pitti has been declared Bird Sanctuary since it is a breeding ground for sea turtles and birds like Brown Nods and Terns.
The Lakshadweep tour is simply exiting.
