This is an exclusive Bhutan tour package spanning for four nights and five days covering important destinations of the land like Thimphu, Paro and Punakha. The Paro Thimphu Punakha tour starts and ends at Paro covering each destination with a guided tour.
Paro - Thimphu - Punakha - Paro
Once you reach Paro International Airport, Bhutan, the tour representative will be waiting for you and drive you to Thimphu, which is 55 km away and is the capital of the country.
On the way, the tour halts at the religious site of Chuzom for spotting stupas. Chuzom is the spot where Paro River and Thimphu River joins. Right before the stop at Chuzom, you will drive through the famous 15th century Tschogang Lhakhang. This is called as the temple of the excellent horse, built as a result of the Balaha visitation.
Once you reach Thimphu, you will be taken directly to a hotel, where you will be checked in. After the refreshment, the sightseeing starts by afternoon covering Tashichho Dzong fortress. This is not just a fortress but a monastery, now used as an official government seat. This is the summer residence of the chief Abbot, too. The monastery also holds the throne room of the king, secretariat building and others.
In the evening, you will be taken on a walking trip through the market region and the main street of Thimpu. This includes visit to local crafts bazaar for souvenir hunting. Top items to buy during this visit are slate articles, wooden articles, Thangka painting, handwoven textile, masks, ceramics and others.
You will be taken back to the hotel for overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will be taken on a excursion to Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang) to enjoy panoramic view of the valley and to spot the country’s largest Buddha statue.
Later, you will be taken to King’s memorial chorten. This is an important pilgrimage site, where you can find devotees circumambulating as they spin the prayer wheels and chant prayers.
Later, you will visit Changangkha Lhakhang - a temple fortress with a monastic school. The temple holds the statue of Chenrezig with eleven heads. The best part of all is the view of the Thimphu Valley from the courtyard of the temple.
Visit textile museum which holds a collection of Bhutanese textiles, which explains the heritage and culture of the land.
After lunch, you drive to Punakha across Dochu la Pass to spot mani wall, prayer flags, chorten, and others. The pass holds around 108 stupas, built by Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk. The first level has 45 chortens, the second has 36 and the top has 27 with the main chorten in the middle.
In the evening, you will be taken to Wangdue Town, which is newly developed and last town of the central highway before central Bhutan.
You will be taken back to the hotel in Punakha for overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will visit Punakha Dzong. The Punakha Dzong is called the Palace of Great Happiness built at the spot where Mochu River and Phochu River meet.
Later Visit Chimi Lhakhang - the temple of fertility located on a hillock. This temple has the power to grant children to couples who visit the temple. You will be taken on a walking tour through the Pana Village and its rice fields, closer to the temple.
Later, you will be taken on a four-hour road trip from Punakha to Paro, along the Dochu La Pass covering Paro Chuhu River Valley, Wang Chhu River Valley, Paro Town, and others.
On the way, you will be taken to visit Simtokha Dzong which is the palace where tantric teaching takes place. Once you reach Paro, you will be checked into a hotel.
The rest of the evening is spent in exploring the culture of Paro by walking through the City Center. Paro is the site of numerous ancient temples, museums, deep gorges, and much more.
You will be taken back to the hotel for overnight stay in Paro.
After breakfast, you will be taken on a road trip to the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktshang Monastery). This trip stretches for five hours including the walking trail. The monastery is located 900m above the valley base.
Afternoon, you will be taken to visit Ta Dzong which was built as a watchtower and today, it is a famous museum of art and artifact holding displays of weapons, textiles, paintings, historic artifacts, and others.
Later visit Rinpung Dzong or Paro Dzong is the fortress of heap of jewels, which is famous for the historic significance and incredible architecture.
You will be taken to the hotel for overnight stay in Paro.
After breakfast, the checkout formalities starts and it marks the end of the itinerary. The tour representative will drop you at the airport for catching the return flight to your destination.
