Additional Infomation

Foreign nationals require a Protected Area Permit, or PAP, to enter Arunachal Pradesh; an Indian tourist’s Inner Line Permit is not valid for foreign passport holders. The official Arunachal Pradesh Tourism website provides separate permit guidance for international visitors.

Bum La Pass and certain high-altitude lakes require additional local authorisation. Visits remain subject to security approval, snow, health conditions and road accessibility. The official tourism website also advises that weather in the region can be unpredictable.

Accommodation standards in Dirang, Tawang and Bomdila are comfortable but comparatively simple. International guests should be informed that heating, internet connectivity, hot-water supply and other facilities may not always match large-city hotel standards.

A sturdy private vehicle with an experienced local driver should be used. Extra time should be retained for mountain roads, security checks and weather-related delays.
