Best Time to Take the Buddhist Circuit Tour

The best period for this Buddhist pilgrimage is from October to March, when the weather across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and southern Nepal is generally pleasant for sightseeing and road travel.

Travelling during the summer months can be challenging because of the high temperatures. The monsoon season brings greener landscapes, although occasional heavy rainfall may affect road journeys.

Spend the day exploring Bodhgaya, the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage destination in India. It was here that Prince Siddhartha meditated beneath a Bodhi tree, attained enlightenment and became the Buddha.

Visit the Mahabodhi Temple Complex, an outstanding example of ancient Buddhist architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. See the sacred Bodhi Tree, believed to be a descendant of the original tree beneath which Buddha attained enlightenment. You will also visit Vajrasana, or the Diamond Throne, marking the place of Buddha’s meditation.
