Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is an island century that is surrounded by the Indian Ocean. The history of this country begins around 30000 years ago when this island was first inhabited by tribes. Ancient texts such as Mahavamsa, Dipavamsa, and Divyavadan state about the Sinhalese dynasty which rule this island in the 6^th century B.C. Europeans started colonizing this city in the 16th century BC, leading to the disestablishment of monarchy in 1815 AD.

Sri Lanka is also mentioned in the ancient Hindu text Ramayana. Buddhism is another religion that is prevalent in Sri Lanka it was introduced here in the 3^rd century BC by Mahinda who was the son of the Mauryan emperor Ashoka the Great.
