You may even get to witness a Hindu funeral along the river.
For more complete religious experience, follow this up with a trip to the nearby “Buddhist Boudhanath Stupa” where you can learn about Buddhism principles from the monks themselves. Here, you can also visit one of the most famous astrologers in the country!
Now it’s time to enjoy lunch in any of the small restaurants at “Old Freak Street” or “Freak Street” located at the south of “Kathmandu Durbar Square”. Explore Kathmandu Durbar Square which is the most spectacular historic place with heritage of traditional architecture and last but not least.
Don’t forget to shop from here as its many small souvenir shops, tattoo parlour, street vendors and lots of handmade crafts.
Later we will take you to “Swayambhunath or Monkey Temple”, surrounded by monkeys and offering the whole city view on a lofty hilltop. The “Monkey Temple” is a spellbinding, chaotic mishmash of Buddhist and Hindu iconography.
On the second day, enjoy an early morning breakfast at Kathmandu. Now Proceed to discover the fine arts capital of Nepal “Patan”. Upon reaching Patan, set eyes on the “Patan Durbar Square” which is not only one of the three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley but its attractions like ancient royal palace, museum, temples, Newa architecture and more surely mesmerize you with all their beauty and appeal.
If you are not in the mood of sightseeing tour, you can explore the local market to pick some wood carvings or silver jewellery from one of the many shops lining the streets and back streets.
Following lunch, now it’s time to move toward one of the 3 royal cities in the Kathmandu Valley “Bhaktapur” known as the “City of Devotees / Culture” or the “Living Heritage”, filled with monuments, pagodas, religious shrines, palaces and temples with elaborate carvings.
