Tejas Express Lucknow to Delhi train has been flagged off today (Oct 4, 2019) by UP CM, Yogi Adityanath. The country’s first private train with high-end luxury and comfort is strategically started during festival season to accommodate the increasing crowd in the trains. Over the past few months, the Indian railway department has unveiled only a few pieces of information about the train. Now, the train is on tracks and so is all the required information. Here is everything you need to know about the train.
Lucknow to Delhi Tejas Express Fare
The railway department has finally revealed the fare details of the train. As mentioned before, the train tickets are dynamically priced.
Minimum Cost for AC Chair Car - INR 1125 (for comparison; the cost of the same ticket in Delhi-Lucknow Tejas train is INR 1280)
Minimum Cost for Executive Chair Car - INR 2,310
The tickets are available for booking from October 5th, 2019. This charge includes GST and catering charges. The catering charges include the use of tea and coffee vending machines inside the train. Further details about catering facilities are provided below, under the subheading of facilities.
If you are getting down at Kanpur, the fare is INR 320 for AC chair ticket and INR 630 for executive ticket.
If you are traveling between Lucknow and Ghaziabad, the fare is INR 1,125 for AC chair and INR 2310 for executive chair ticket.

Lucknow – Delhi Tejas train number is 82501. Do not confuse it with the Delhi to Lucknow Tejas train, whose number is 82502.

The train is programmed to run six days a day (except Tuesdays). The train starts from Lucknow at 6:10 am and reaches New Delhi at 12:25 pm. It takes a little more than six hours to complete the journey. As of now, this is the fastest train in this route. It stops at Ghaziabad and Kanpur on the way.

Lucknow to Delhi Tejas Express Train Facilities
The train has one executive chair car and nine AC chair cars. The executive chair car can accommodate 56 seats and each AC chair car can accommodate 78 seats. In total, the train can accommodate 758 passengers during one trip.

Catering Service
For chair cars, tea and coffee are served with cookies. They can also opt for nimbupani. For breakfast, vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals are provided. Vegetarian combo includes two cutlets, vermicelli, uttapam, poha, and coconut chutney. Or, they can choose another combo with two meduvadas with suji upma and chutney. Non-vegetarian meal provides masala omelet with a side of sautéed assortment of vegetables. A little before the end of the journey, they are served with tea or coffee with cookies and samosa.
For executive chair cars, the beverages are served with premium cookies and they can choose flavored lassi for the beverage. The meal combos are the same. But, executive travelers can also opt for cornflakes with sugar and milk instead of the meal. A little before the end of the journey, they are served beverages with a muffin or a cake slice.
Lucknow to Delhi Tejas Express Ticket Booking
As of now, the train does not offer tatkal or premium quota options. There are general quota and foreign quota categorizations in the train booking process. The booking can be done only is the official railway website (IRCTC) or its mobile application. The tickets cannot be booked manually over the counter. You can also book tickets via authorized agents. You can book tickets up to a maximum of 60 days prior to departure date.

Lucknow to Delhi Tejas Cancellation and Refund
The trains of India are often criticized for the delay and inconsistent punctuality. To stop this, Lucknow-Delhi Tejas train has a new initiative of refunding INR 100 to every passenger if the train is delayed by an hour and INR 200 if the delay is more than 2 hours. This cost would be reimbursed to the passengers’ individual bank account.
In case of a train delay, the passengers have to file an insurance claim form, which can be downloaded from online. The claim form will be provided with a toll-free number for the customers to ask queries. The form requires basic details like PNR number, bank details, details about the train delay (hours of delay) and others.
Compared to other similar trains, this train has a lower cancellation fee.
- For cancellation within 4 hours from the time of departure, INR 25 is deducted (for comparison, for other trains, INR 65 is deducted for AC class tickets)
- Cancellation of waiting-list ticket will be refunded 100%
- For partially confirmed ticket, 100% refund is done if the tickets are canceled 30 minutes before the train departure time
