Padum to Darcha is a long distance trekking tour of moderate toughness. Padum lies in Ladakh and Darchaa lies in Himanchal Pradesh. Padum-Darchaa trek covers road- drives interspersed with stays at different destinations for trekking.
By Leh-Kargil road, we drive right from the Leh to Padam via Kargil and Ramgdom on a hillock overlooking a wide marshy plain. We drive towards Kargil through Suru Vlley, an underrated part of Ladakh. From Kargil, we drive up to the base of the Penzi-la pass to enter Zanksar, a beautiful valley of Ladakh. Zanskar opened to motor traffic only in 1980 when a road was built.
