Detail Itinerary

Day 1 :Mumbai (Arrival)

The guests will need to report sharp by 15:30 hours at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai and Deccan Odyssey team will deliver a traditional welcome. The guests need to then proceed for the registration and check-in formalities for the journey. The guests will also be entertained with a welcome drink followed by the exploration of the Deccan Odyssey as the train is scheduled to depart for Vadodara by evening.

Dinner will be served on board and overnight stay.

Day 2 :Vadodara

By early morning the train will arrive at the scheduled destination, Vadodara. Gujarat's one of the most prominent cities and the royal home for the Gaekwad rulers once upon a time. Breakfast will be served on board and after the breakfast session, the guests can roll out for the first site visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site, Champaner Pavagadh Archaeological Park which is considered to be the only Islamic pre – Mughal city that remains unchanged. The site of the Archaeological park consists of water installations, some of the beautiful religious buildings, magnificent palaces, unique agricultural structures, redefining palaces and more. Lunch will be provided just after the visit to the archaeological park ends.

After the lunch session, a visit to the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum is scheduled which comprises of spectacular sculptures, splendid paintings and also the majestic structure. The museum visit is followed by the high tea session at the wonderful Laxmi Vilas Palace, a Royal Residence till the present time

. The guests can also witness a special folk performance along with some of the authentic cuisines from the Royal Kitchen. The guests will then need to aboard the Deccan Odyssey as the train departs for Udaipur. Stay overnight on board.

Day 3 :Udaipur

By morning, the train enters the City of Lakes, Udaipur which is also famous as one of the romantic cities of India. The Aravali Hill view can be witnessed alongside an authentic Indian breakfast onboard the train. The sightseeing tour is continued just after the breakfast session. The first visit is to the City Palace which was built 400 years ago. By 1559, Maharana Udai Singh II started the construction of such a beautiful structure at the eastern banks of the Lake Pichola.

The tour will be followed by an amazing boat ride on the frolic waters of the Lake Pichola which takes you to the island palace of Jag Mandir. Lunch will be served on board.

Post lunch session a walking tour is scheduled at Old Udaipur. You will also be entertained at the local market where you will find availability of local handicrafts such as puppets, cloth lanterns, wooden boxes, jewelry and several other handicrafts.

After the tour, back to the train for a relaxed evening and lavish dinner. Overnight stay on the Deccan Odyssey.

Day 4 :Jodhpur

By the 4th day, the train enters the Sun City of Rajasthan – Jodhpur. Jodhpur is the former capital of the Marwar Kingdom and also famous for its attachment with the Thar Desert and also features some of the most beautiful temples, forts, and palaces.

You will be served breakfast on board and a relaxing day will be ahead of which the guests can also make a visit to a luxury hotel for a spa session or you can also visit the famous Bishnoi tribal village also the weavers and the pottery villages. A vivid look into the rural lifestyle of the people who reside in these villages.

Lunch on board the Deccan Odyssey followed by the city tour. Up comes the exploration to the breathtaking Mehrangarh Fort, which is situated in amongst the brown sands of the Thar. It is considered to be one of India's largest forts which were built by Rao Jodha in the year 1459 on a hill which is 150 meters in height. A part of the Fort is now turned to be a museum which comprises of royal palanquins, paintings, armory, costumes, personal belongings of the royal family and more. A visit to the colorful Turban Gallery is also scheduled.

A tour to the city is also included where the guests can involve in the insights of the markets as well as the Old Clock Tower and also the astounding havelis. An authentic Marwar barbeque delicacies will be arranged in the royal courtyard of the Mehrangarh Fort by evening. You will also get the startling view from the Hilltop. You will need to get back to train as it is scheduled to depart for the next destination, the Mughal City of Agra. Overnight stay on board.

Day 5 :Agra

The train arrives in Agra by early morning, After having your breakfast the guests will head towards the city tour. Agra is famous all over the world for its magnificent structure which is also one of the seven wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal was built by one of the great Mughal emperor named Shah Jahan for his beloved wife Queen Mumtaz Mahal. The white marble mausoleum took 22 long years to get high on its feet which is carved with some of the most precious gems.

Lunch can be enjoyed at a City Hotel followed by a visit to Itmad–Ud–Daulah tomb also known as the ‘Baby Taj'. Nur Jahan commissioned this marble mausoleum who was also the wife of Emperor Jahangir's wife in the memory of her father, Ghiyas Beg. You will also notice the beautiful lattice work on the mausoleum. The next visit is to the astonishing Agra Fort, which is another Mughal architectural beauty. Emperor Akbar built one part of the fort complex in red stone and Emperor Shahjahan built the other part in marble carvings. The complex has a number of structures within the boundary of the Fort.

After sightseeing, you can either opt for a relaxing spa session at a popular City Hotel or you can also visit some of the famous local markets of Agra which is also famous for local handicrafts, ornaments, and special artifacts carved out of marble. You need to get onboard the Deccan Odyssey for dinner and overnight stay as the train is scheduled to set its departure towards Sawai Madhopur.

Day 6 : Sawai Madhopur

An exciting day is awaited as the train enters the next destination, Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan. Sawai Madhopur is renowned for its largest national park in northern India, Ranthambore National Park. It is well known as a home for a good number of wild beasts especially the big cats.It is also known for being one of the largest and the finest Tiger Reserves of India.

After the breakfast session, the guests will be guided to a wildlife safari which is conducted in the Ranthambore National Park. There are a large number of animals alongside the big cats especially the Chinkara, Nilgai, Sambhar, Chital, Sloth Bear and more. There are also 272 different species of migratory birds who resides in the depth of the National Park. After the wildlife trip, it is time for a mouth-watering lunch onboard the train.

After the lunch session, you can roll out to a village safari interacting with the locals wearing traditional attires such as turban and ghagra choli is worn by most men and women. By early evening the guests will be served high tea at a well known hunting lodge which belongs to the royal family of the region.

By late evening, the guests will be back on board and dinner will be served as the train is scheduled to depart for the next destination, the Pink City of Rajasthan, Jaipur. Overnight stay at the Deccan Odyssey.

Day 7 : Jaipur

Day 7 marks the exploration of the capital city of Rajasthan, Jaipur. Jaipur is always known for its colorful beauty and splendid art and architecture. After the breakfast session, the guests can move out to visit the Amber Fort. It is one of the famous Forts of the 15th century which was commissioned by Raja Man Singh during 1592. You can also witness a beautiful view of the Maota Lake up from the Amber Fort and relax in the serenity of the Fort. There are a number of amazing structures inside the Fort.

The next visit is to the Hawa Mahal which is also known as the Palace of the Winds. The honey cobweb-like structure is an interesting feature of the Hawa Mahal and it also features in pink sandstone. Up next is the City Palace which is one of the most beautiful Palaces in Jaipur and the lovely Palace complex consists of carved doorways, gardens, beautiful palaces, courtyards and also a museum with some of the finest collections of artifacts, armory etc. The next is the UNESCO World Heritage site - Jantar Mantar. It is believed to be an astronomical observatory which was built by Sawai Jai Singh in the 18th century period.

Enjoy an authentic lunch at a city hotel. After which the guests can opt to either move out for a spa session or you can also visit some of the beautiful and the most amazing and colorful local markets of Jaipur. These markets are all-time favorites for traditional clothes, rich and colorful handicrafts, bangles, jewelry and lot more.

Dinner will be served on board and overnight stay onboard the train will depart for New Delhi by late evening.

Day 8 :New Delhi (Departure)

By the last day of the Deccan Odyssey tour, you will return back to the capital city of India, New Delhi. Breakfast will be served on board and the guests need to bid farewell to the Deccan Odyssey at the Delhi Cantt Railway Station.
