India Relaxes New E-Visa Policy for Chinese Nationals

The Indian government has extended the validity of Indian e-visa for Chinese nationals. On 11th October 2019, the President of China, Xi visited Mamallapuram (Mahabalipuram) to meet with Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. On the same day, representative of the embassy released a press report that India has announced several changes to e-visa validity and other facilities.

The e-visa facility has been available for Chinese tourists for several years. However, this has not tremendously increased the number of Chinese visitors to India. Last year, more than 7.5 lakhs Indians visited China but, only 2.5 lakh Chinese tourists entered India. Every year, more than 150 million Chinese visit international destinations for vacation. To create a more convenient tour to attract numerous Chinese to India for vacation, many changes have been made in visa fee and validity for Chinese nationals.

New E-Visa Changes

The five-year visa, which is a multiple entry visa, which is priced at $80. This five-year visa has been an old-standing demand to India from China. In addition to this, tourists can also choose to avail 30-day validity single-entry visa at the cost of $25. If this 30 days visa is taken during the lean tourism months (April to June), the cost of the visa is just $10. One-year multiple entry e-visa is charged $40. All these changes are made only for tourist visas. The e-medical visa, business visa, and others remain unchanged. Until today, most of the e-visa validity is just 60 days and these new changes are expected to bring in numerous tourists to India from China.

The best time for Chinese to visit India is from October to March. This is the time when the climate is dry, cool and pleasing. It is true that the climate of India is very different from region to region. In general, it is best to visit a place, when it is dry and pleasing. How To Apply For An Indian Visa?

Applying for an Indian visa is quite simple and easy. E-visa can be procured twice in a calendar year. For applying e-visa, you would need

  1. Valid Chinese passport with at least three blank pages and 6 months of validity
  2. Digital photograph (passport size)
  3. Scan of all the information pages in the passport
  4. Credit card, debit card or other payment methods to pay the visa fee

Visit the official government site of India for visa application. Fill the form and make the online payment for the visa processing fee. After a stipulated amount of time, your visa approval form will be sent to your mail ID. Take a physical copy of the document. Present the document to the immigration officer at the Indian airport. Your visa will be stamped on your passport after verification of your e-visa.
